I try to write about three times per week. Most of it is pretty good and will probably help you grow your business. If it doesn't, then I probably can't help you.

You can use a traditional RSS Feedreader with this fancy-dancy link. I think this approach is harder but if you want to do it the hard way, who am I to say otherwise?

What is Conversion Rate Optimization?

Conversion Rate Optimization or CRO is not about selling more stuff or generating more leads. It’s about figuring out what it takes to sell more stuff or generate more leads. It’s about taking the time to set up test and analyze the results.

Follow Instructions or Lose

When you are submitting your résumé for consideration (or pitching anything, for that matter), you must understand that hiring managers see many for each job posting. If you don't follow instructions, they will make a judgment based on that.

The Importance of an Empty Inbox

I personally take pride in an empty email inbox. As a business owner, a businessman, and simply a person who respects others, I feel it is important that I effectively manage my email inbox.

Email Marketing Blunders

They're an MLM company so maybe this TalkSeda is one of their 'representatives.' Maybe GVO doesn't even know this is going on (probably not the case). But if GVO doesn't know, it doesn't excuse their website & their lack of participation in the social world.

Social Media: Empowering Word-Of-Mouth

Word-of-mouth marketing does require your customer to spread the word on behalf of the your company. A website integrated with social media can help to unite people of like minds in a two-way conversation that can lead to transactions.

If it weren't for the customers.

It’s interesting how often we forget the very people that frustrate us are the people that make it possible for us to make a living. How often does your phone ring & you complain or when a customer complains, you simply don't want to do anything about it.

Japanese Planes ready attack for Pearl Harbor

December 7, 1941

You can’t always negotiate your peace. Sometimes there are forces that are intent on taking what you have. It’s not usually done by force of war, as is the case with the Japanese 70 years ago today, but also in business, politics and life in general.

Hard Work

Pay Your Dues

Everyone has to pay his or her dues. Some will pay dues longer than others depending on the circumstances. But, everyone must prove skill in one area first. Those that try to take shortcuts almost always fail because they get ahead of their real ability.

Other People's Money

When it’s someone else’s money, it’s hard to be held accountable. In a corporation, it’s a little easier because at least there are shareholders that, at some point, will cry foul. In government, it’s much harder because we become complacent.

Golden Rule Is Golden

When you’re going to judge what someone is doing or, more importantly, when you’re going to be vocal about your judgments be careful. You never know if you’re simply making a fool of yourself. Live by the golden rule in business and life & you’ll do fine.

Boston Market QR

Marketers Don't Quite Get QR.

There are many uses for a QR code but linking to a webpage is the most obvious for marketers right now. Costa Vida gets it wrong and Boston Market gets it right. It may be a while before markets, on a large scale, get it right.

Idaho Statesman Sold an Ad

Hurray, you sold an ad!

I’m really excited for the Idaho Statesman. I was about to start an “ADWATCH” because this ad spot went so long without being sold. Now, they have sold it. I wonder… is it worth it? Probably not. Maybe I can work on understanding Doonesbury better, now.

Of Paper and Technology

I am a terrible note taker. If I have a computer in front of me I will take very impressive notes. When I have a piece of paper in front of me I will doodle and write random thoughts that have little relation to the presentation.

Boring events are boring for a reason

Today, I sat in a chamber of commerce event. During the meeting today, there were three key observations that I had that reaffirmed why I do not like meetings like this. The three reasons are sponsors, sponsors and presenters.
